NOTE: Under the league scoring system, Poole gained 3 points and Swindon received 0.

The Dorset side have taken the 2010 domestic scene by storm and Swindon matched Neil Middleditch’s side for large spells of this terrific match up.

Swindon operated the rider replacement facility for Thomas H.Jonasson after the Swede suffered concussion due to a Tuesday night fall in his homeland.

Robins’ skipper Leigh Adams topped the Swindon score-card as the Australian registered a twelve-point return. Grzegorz Zengota recovered from a pointless opening ride to eventually notch paid eleven, whilst both Mads Korneliussen and Simon Stead amassed paid seven totals.

Cory Gathercole was in the thick of the action throughout and the tenacious youngster amassed a well deserved paid-seven point score. It did, however, prove to be a difficult night for Morten Risager who could only muster a solitary point from his intense schedule.

Poole were well served by their Australian No.1 Chris Holder who romped to a hugely impressive fifteen-point maximum. Elsewhere, Polish thrill-merchant Artur Mroczka notched a paid-ten score as did World U21 Champion, Darcy Ward.

Despite conceding a 5-1 advantage in the opening race, Swindon fought hard throughout and spent a large majority of the encounter trailing by eight points.

A Poole 4-2 in race nine shuffled the home side into a ten point lead and Leigh Adams was nominated for a tactical ride in the ensuing race. A 5-3 in Swindon’s favour reduced the Pirates’ lead to eight points, but the Robins were unable to reduce the home sides advantage further.

A Swindon heat advantage in the fifteenth would have secured a solitary Elite League point, but another masterclass from Chris Holder saw the Australian International romp to victory.
