SWINDON’S stuttering start to the season continued with a surprise 51-42 Elite League defeat by Birmingham at the Abbey on Thursday.

Scott Nicholls continued his good form with 17 for Ronnie Russell’s men but former Blunsdon men James Wright and Krzysztof Kasprzak (14 each) proved too strong.

Nicholls scored the maximum six-points from a tactical ride in Heat 10 but Birmingham went on to secure the win with races in hand.

Robins were once again without the injured Simon Stead and they used the rider replacement facility.
They will be looking for revenge when the sides meet again at Perry Barr on Friday night (7.30).

SWINDON 42: Scott Nicholls 17, Nicolai Klindt 10+1, Jesper B Monberg 7+2, Maciej Janowski 4+2, Justin Sedgmen 3, Josh Grajczonek 1, Simon Stead r/r.

BIRMINGHAM 51: James Wright 14+1, Krzysztof Kasprzak 14, Ben Barker 10, Daniel Nermark 5+1, Dakota North 5, Daniel King 2+1, Ales Dryml 1+1.
