SWINDON’S recent revival continued with a spectacular 51-41 win over Elite League leaders Eastbourne at the Abbey on Monday.
The Robins were effectively a five-man team and they displayed great character to make a mockery of the league table.
Scott Nicholls was top scorer with 14 and Jesper B Monberg notched 11+3 in a solid display which thrilled the Bank Holiday crowd.
And there was a fair amount of good racing throughout the night, especially in Heat 15 when Nicholls secured the maximum points and the race featured no less than seven passes.
Said Nicholls: “It’s a really pleasing result and just shows that we have a good team here at Swindon.
â€It’s been a tough time for the club in the early stages of the season but you only have to look at last season and the nightmare start Coventry made and yet ended up as champions.
“It’s all about getting into the top four and having beaten Poole and now Eastbourne in successive home meetings we have to have belief that we can get into the play-offs. The team spirit is excellent."
SWINDON 51: Scott Nicholls 14, Jesper B Monberg 11+3, Cory Gathercole 9+1, Maciej Janowski 9, Nicolai Klindt 8, Justin Sedgmen 0, Simon Stead R/R.
EASTBOURNE 41: Bjarne Pedersen 11+1, Joonas Kylmakorpi 10, Simon Gustafsson 7+1, Lewis Bridger 7, Cameron Woodward 5+2, Dakota North 1+1, Lukas Dryml 0.
