SWINDON slipped to their second successive home defeat with a 47-43 reverse against Lakeside on Thursday night.
The Robins were hammered by Poole last time out at the Abbey Stadium, but this was a huge improvement on that result with Nicolai Klindt once again showing some good individual form, top-scoring with 11+1.
Cory Gathercole contributed with 9+1 and Scott Nicholls with 9, but Maciej Janowski had a rare off-night and could only manage 4+1.
The Essex side led from the start with former Robin Lee Richardson featuring in an opening race 5-1 and he had another four victories to finish the night with 15 from six starts.
A Gathercole and Janowski maximum in Heat 13 kept Swindon in the hunt trailing by just four-points with two races remaining, but the Hammers held on and Ronnie Russell’s men remain at the foot of the Elite League table.
SWINDON 43: Nikolai Klindt 11+1, Cory Gathercole 9+1, Scott Nicholls 9, Simon Stead 7, Maciej Janowski 4+1, Jesper B Monberg 3+1, Justin Sedgmen 0
