SWINDON were sent crashing to a 59-34 Elite League defeat at Eastbourne on Sunday afternoon.

It was the second heavy loss the Robins have suffered at Arlington this season having gone down to an identical scoreline in another league meeting last month.

Nicolai Klindt and Scott Nicholls did show some decent form with 10-points apiece, but a lack of race winners throughout the side proved costly.

Nicholls actually got the Robins off to a reasonable start by winning a shared Heat 1, but the Play-Off chasing Eagles were in stunning form and quickly opened up a 34-14 following the completion of Heat 8.

After the interval break Klindt went for double points in Heat 9 and that worked well as he made the start to beat home favourites Lewis Bridger and Joonas Kylmakorpi. The resulting 6-3 momentarily reduced the deficit, but Eastbourne moved up another gear to go 46-23 after Heat 11.

Jesper Monberg and Sergey Darkin then raced to a 4-2 in Heat 13, but the Eagles completed an impressive home performance with a 4-2 of their own in Heat 15.

EASTBOURNE 59: Bjarne Pedersen 12+2, Cameron Woodward 11+2, Daniel King 11, Joonas Kylmakorpi 10+2, Lewis Bridger 10+1, Timo Lahti 5+1, Simon Gustafsson R/R.

SWINDON 34: Scott Nicholls 10, Nicolai Klindt 10, Jesper B Monberg 5, Simon Stead 4, Sergey Darkin 3, Cory Gathercole 1+1, Grzegorz Zengota 1.
