SWINDON went down to a disappointing 43-47 home defeat at the hands of play-off chasing Coventry at Blunsdon on Thursday.

The Robins were unable to take full advantage of the Bees’ rider absences, with former Swindon man Ryan Fisher combining with guest Chris Harris for the match-winning 5-1 in Heat 15.

Robins had earlier battled back from six points down having been unfortunate in Heat 6 when race leader Scott Nicholls ground to a halt, which handed the Bees a 5-1.

But Nicolai Klindt, after winning his first three rides – the third of which produced a sensational passive move – broke the tapes in Heat 13, and he and Nicholls were unable to find a way past the visiting duo in the decider.

SWINDON 43: Nicolai Klindt 10, Scott Nicholls 9, Simon Stead 8+2, Jesper B Monberg 8+1, Grzegorz Zengota 3+1, Cory Gathercole 3, Sergey Darkin 2+1.

COVENTRY 47: Ryan Fisher 12+1, Chris Harris 11+2, Kenni Larsen 11, Nick Morris 9+2, Ritchie Hawkins 3, Jordan Frampton 1+1, Emil Sayfutdinov r/r.
