EXETER took the honours in Thursday night’s Bob Kilby Memorial meeting at Swindon’s Abbey Stadium.
The Falcons (35 points) just pipped Oxford Rebels (32) to the top spot, followed by the Robins on 20, as the three clubs paid tribute to their former favourite.
Kilby raced for the Robins as well as the now-defunct Oxford and Exeter sides, and teams representing all three clubs took to the track in his honour.
It proved to be a thrilling encounter with the meeting going to a last heat decider.
Oxford led Exeter by a single point going into the final race, but with double-points up for grabs Falcons representative Rory Schlein led home Swindon’s Simon Stead and Rebels Scott Nicholls to secure victory.
Nicholls, who was declared an Oxford rider for one night only, was unbeaten up to that point, but despite plenty of effort was just unable to pass the fast-starting Schlein and Stead.
SWINDON 20: Simon Stead 12, Jesper B Monberg 4, Richard Sweetman 3+1, Kenny Ingalls 1
OXFORD 32: Scott Nicholls 14, Charlie Gjedde 11, David Howe 4+1, Lubos Tomicek 3
EXETER 35: Rory Schlein 18, Lewis Bridger 9, Mark Lemon 6+1, Kyle Newman 2+1
