SWINDON signed-off their Inter-League Challenge against Somerset with a narrow 47-43 defeat at the Oak Tree Arena.

The Robins were never in front against the Rebels Select side bolstered for the night by Aussie sensation Darcy Ward, but did enough for a 96-88 aggregate victory following their twelve-point success in the first leg on Thursday.

Despite the loss it was a solid performance by the Wiltshire men with Peter Kildemand leading the way with 9+1. Troy Bachelor had two race wins in his 9-point score, plus a retirement at the start of the last race which ended any hopes of a snatching a late draw. Winter signing Robin Aspegren also performed well with 7+1 from the reserve berth.

Ward was not surprisingly the star of the show for the Rebels with 13, dropping his only points to Batchelor and Hans Andersen. Sam Masters (12) continues to look a star in the making and linked up with Ward for the 4-2 in Heat 15 that won them the match.

SOMERSET SELECT 47: Darcy Ward 13, Sam Masters 11+1, Claus Vissing 6+1, James Wright 5+1, Alex Davies 4, Charlie Gjedde 3+1, Kyle Newman 3+1, Tom Perry 2

SWINDON 43: Peter Kildemand 9+1, Troy Batchelor 9, Robin Aspegren 7+1, Simon Stead 6+1, Hans Andersen 6, Kenny Ingalls 5+1, Nick Morris 1
