SWINDON were denied a point by an inspired Lakeside team on an emotional night in Essex.

The result was always going to be secondary this evening as fans, riders and friends paid tribute to the late Lee Richardson in Lakeside’s first home meeting since Sundays tragic accident.

It was an emotional evening as fans poured in to pay their respects to the former Robin, and the home team dedicated every point to their captain.

It was a tough night on the track for the Robins, who couldn’t combat the overall strength of their opponents, but they kept it close throughout the meeting and weren’t far off a league point. Hans Andersen continued to impress with 10, while Jason Doyle had his best Swindon meeting to date with paid nine.

It was a tough night for all concerned, and both teams did Rico proud with an excellent tussle on the track.

The Robins remain fourth in the Sky Sports Elite League table and now travel to Eastbourne on Saturday hoping for a win.

LAKESIDE 50 (Davey Watt 15, Peter Karlsson 12, Richie Worrall 9, Kim Nilsson 6+1, Stuart Robson 4+1, Robert Mear 4+1.)

SWINDON 40 (Hans Andersen 10, Peter Kildemand 9, Jason Doyle 8+1, Simon Stead 6+1, Troy Batchelor 4, Nick Morris 3, Anders Mellgren (G) 0.)
