Swindon Robins have signed twenty five year old Austrian International Manuel Hauzinger as a direct replacement for Dutchman Theo Pijper.
Pijper has struggled to adapt to Elite league racing and will now be made available to other clubs.
New signing Hauzinger will make his debut on Thursday 12th June in the meeting against Eastbourne at the Abbey Stadium.
The three times Austrian Champion, has previously had spells with the Isle of Wight, Newcastle, Birmingham and most recently with Berwick in the Premier league.
Swindon manager Alun Rossiter on the release of Pijper
‘Telling Theo he was being released was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever had to do. Obviously the crash in which he broke his collar bone earlier in the season was a massive factor in his disappointing scores and I don’t feel Theo every fully recovered from that. His low scoring wasn’t doing him any favours or Swindon speedway so in the end this is the best decision all round.
We thank Theo for his efforts, nobody can ever doubt his commitment. There are already four Premier league clubs interested in his services and of course we wish him well for the future.’
On Manuel Hauzinger 'Manuel is a true racer who should do well at Blunsdon. Were not instantly expecting huge scores but are hoping Manuel will be able to pick up an increasing number of points at the season progresses.
