BRAVE Swindon went down 52-40 at Peterborough on Friday.

The Excalibur Communications Robins gave a spirited display without the services of in-form racer Nick Morris, who was on Premier League duty with Somerset.

And charismatic team boss Alun Rossiter was also missing to be with his wife who was due to give birth - club co-promoter Gary Patchett took charge.

The Abbey Stadium side kept things close for the majority of the meeting but 'King' Kenneth Bjerre was in majestic form for Panthers and Patrick Hougaard continued his stunning form at reserve.

Peterborough strung an impressive run of results together in the last third of the match and Robins needed maximum in the last heat to gain a consolation point.

But home hero Bjerre, a former Grand Prix star, pulled off a fine move to beat spectacular Swindon man Peter Kildemand in Heat 15 to secure all three points for the Alwalton outfit.

PETERBOROUGH: Kenneth Bjerre 14+1, Patrick Hougaard 12, Krzysztof Buczkowski 7+1, Ryan Fisher 6+1, Joonas Kylmakorpi 6, Norbert Kosciuch 5+2, Dakota North 2+1.
SWINDON: Peter Kildemand 15, Kyle Howarth 12+1, Hans Andersen 5+1, Troy Batchelor 4+1, Ashley Birks 3+2, Edward Kennett 1+1, Nick Morris R/R.
