SCORE and scorers from tonight's abandoned meeting at the Abbey Stadium and re-staging date:
SWINDON will now wrap up their Elite League programme on Monday, September 16 (7.30pm) after their meeting with Lakeside was abandoned after seven heats.
The Excalibur Robins raced into a 25-17 lead early on before a spell of prolonged rain forced the meeting to be called to a halt.
Team boss Alun Rossiter admitted he was frustrated to see the meeting washed out for the second time after the original fixture earlier in the week was postponed.
Yet he admitted they were left with no alternative but to cut short proceedings – and he is now looking forward to returning to the shale for their final meeting on Monday evening.
Said Rossiter: “Obviously it’s very frustrating to get so far and then see the meeting rained off, but there was just nothing we could do about it really.
“The track was pretty wet by the end and we wanted to avoid a farce like we saw in Belle Vue v Poole on Monday.
“We both agreed that having rider replacement in both our line-ups didn’t help, and if we didn’t have to allow extra time for riders having two rides in succession we might have got to ten heats.
“It’s disappointing not to get the meeting out the way, but we’ll get focused again for Monday and look to get a win in our last meeting before the play-offs.â€
