STEVE Worrall completed a 200-mile dash to Swindon - and then turned on the style for two heats before the clash with Birmingham was abandoned.
Worrall, in his first season with the Abbey Stadium side, raced for his Premier League club Edinburgh at Scunthorpe in the afternoon before heading to Wiltshire for the evening action.
And he announced his arrival in style with five points from his opening two rides - before the rain ruined everything.
Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: "It was the right decision to abandon the meeting but I'm gutted about it.
"We can only do our best, I'd like to thank the fans for coming along tonight but the rain had the last word. That's the way it goes sometimes."
SWINDON 26: Troy Batchelor 6, Peter Kildemand 5+1, Steve Worrall 5, Simon Gustafsson 4+1, Nick Morris 3+2, Dakota North 3, Dan Greenwood 0.
BIRMINGHAM 19: Edward Kennett 6, Adam Skornicki 4, Paul Starke 4, Ben Barker 2, Simon Lambert 2, Danny King 1, Kalle Katajisto 0. Abandoned after 7 Heats – Rain – Result does not stand
