ROBINS 42 BELLE VUE 33

Monday May 26, 2014
ALUN Rossiter breathed a sigh of relief after seeing his Swindon side claim all three Elite League points from their 42-33 win over Belle Vue at the Abbey.

The meeting was abandoned after 12 heats due to visibility problems for the riders with steady rain falling from the first heat.

But the result means Rossiter's Robins gained important league points - and they raced a home meeting to a conclusion for the first time in a month.

Highlights included 16-year-old Nathan Greaves, on his home debut, gaining his first ever Elite League heat win when teaming up with Steve Worrall for a 5-1 in Heat 2.

Worrall passed the impressive Charles Wright with a fine move in Heat 9 for an important win to keep Swindon nine-points up.

The surprise result of the night was in Heat 11 when Belle Vue's Michael Palm Toft edged Nick Morris in a thrilling race ahead of Grand Prix stars Matej Zagar and Troy Batchelor.

Said Rossiter: "That was an important win for us and I was naturally delighted for Nathan. He's got a fantastic attitude but I do feel there is something not quite right with his machinery. He was on Simon Gustafsson's spare bike when he won his race.

"It was important for us to get all three points, I think our league position is a bit false at the moment so hopefully we can climb the table."

SWINDON 42: Simon Gustafsson 8+1, Nick Morris 8+1, Peter Kildemand 7+1, Steve Worrall 6+1, Troy Batchelor 6, Nathan Greaves 4, Dakota North 3+2.

BELLE VUE 33: Matej Zagar 9, Scott Nicholls 8, Charles Wright 7+1, Michael Palm Toft 5, Richie Worrall 4+1, Craig Cook 0, Brendan Johnson 0.
