WOLVES 39 ROBINS 51

Monday July 27, 2015
SWINDON gave their play-off hopes a huge boost after a stunning fightback at Monmore Green to see off Wolverhampton 51-39.

The Robins found themselves six-points behind after heat ten, but a string of race advantages saw them pick up all four Elite League points at the start of a busy week for the Blunsdon outfit.

Team Manager Alun Rossiter said: "The atmosphere was great tonight and it was probably the best team spirit I've seen all year; after going six down in heat ten, everyone rallied round, they really pumped themselves up and finished the meeting in an outstanding manner.

"Luck didn't seem to be going our way at one point, but we stuck at it and pulled off a great result in the end.

"I've now got to hunt for guests to replace Nick, potentially for the rest of our meetings this week, but this is the perfect way to start a demanding week."

Grzegorz Zengota continued his spectacular run of form, picking up five stunning race wins from six outings on what he described as one of his "least preferred tracks."

Darcy Ward pulled off some excellent manoeuvres to race to double-figures once again while Charles Wright bagged another impressive score from reserve.

Despite not picking up any heat victories, skipper Troy Batchelor contributed well and was involved in two of the Robins' late 5-1 maximums.

Guest reserve Ashley Morris played an important role and finished his night well with a race win in heat 12.

Eduard Krcmar endured a tough night at Monmore, while Nick Morris was forced to withdraw from the meeting after busting the gash open on his elbow once again after tumbling heavily in his second outing.

WOLVERHAMPTON 39: Freddie Lindgren 10+1, Jacob Thorssell 9, Lewis Blackbird 7+1, Ricky Wells 6, Peter Karlsson 4+1, Josh Bates 3, Tobiasz Musielak 0.

SWINDON 51: Grzegorz Zengota 16, Darcy Ward 11+1, Charles Wright 9+1, Troy Batchelor 8+2, Ashley Morris 5+1, Nick Morris 1+1, Eduard Krcmar 1.
