ROBINS 52 KING'S LYNN 38

Thursday August 04, 2016
SWINDON produced a creditable fightback to secure a hard earned 52-38 home win over King's Lynn.

The M&S Van Rental Robins struggled away from the starts in the early stages and found themselves eight points down after four races.

But Alun Rossiter's men rallied round and dug deep to pick up another vital three Elite League points.

Team boss Rossiter said: "We laid some fresh dirt tonight and it just cut up quite badly in the first few races.

"Once the track smoothed out we settled down and we got into our groove.

"I was a little bit surprised with how the meeting started but I was never worried.

"I had faith in the boys and they did well to go on a good run right up until the end.

"We now move onto Coventry on Monday looking for some more points and a win there would put us into a really strong position."

Following his Speedway World Cup debut with Australia at the weekend, Josh Grajczonek returned to Robins colours in sensational style, dropping just one point to the opposition.

Fellow Aussie Rohan Tungate also demonstrated his capabilities as he struck double figures for the first time in nearly three months.

Charles Wright proved to be an ever reliable reserve for the Robins while Nick Morris rounded off his evening with two race wins.

Skipper Jason Doyle struggled with machinery problems but still chipped in with a vital seven point contribution.

Justin Sedgmen pulled off a single paid heat victory on an otherwise tough evening in the heat-leader role while guest reserve Robert Mear finally got among the points in heat 12.

Aussie ace Darcy Ward made an emotional return to The Abbey where he thanked fans for their support over the last 12 months.
