SWINDON gave their Elite League play-off hopes a shot in the arm with a superb 51-41 victory over King’s Lynn at the Adrian Flux Arena.

A stunning maximum from skipper Jason Doyle led the M&S Van Rental Robins to four huge points with a much-needed win in Norfolk.

It was a perfect response from the Abbey outfit after a disappointing defeat at Coventry ten days ago.

They led from start to finish with a convincing display – and team boss Alun Rossiter was delighted to kick-off a crucial spell with a tremendous result.

“We’re very pleased,” Rossiter said. “We had a few strong words before the meeting, but they were constructive and it was a great response from the boys.

“The determination was great, we were fast out of the gate and all the boys played their part in a superb result.

“This was a must-win, it gives our chances of making the play-offs a big boost and we need to carry that momentum forwards now.”

Doyle was untouchable in his four rides to secure all four points before heat 15, whilst middle order man Nick Morris recorded three wins in his opening three outings.

He delivered arguably the ride of the night to hold off Niels-Kristian Iversen and Troy Batchelor in heat seven on his way to 11 points.

After a tough run of form, Morris earned a well-deserved heat 15 appearance where he was joined by Rohan Tungate, who ended his programmed rides on a high with wins in heats 9 and 14.

Josh Grajczonek helped get the Robins off to a strong start with a clever cutback to join Morris at the front for a 5-1 in heat three.

Justin Sedgmen experienced a mixed evening but delivered a classy victory in heat eight as he made a vital contribution in the engine room of the side.

Stefan Nielsen also enjoyed an encouraging return from injury to bag seven points at reserve whilst guest Leigh Lanham scored in every ride with a solid showing.

After reviving their play-off charge in confidence-boosting fashion, the Robins will head to Manchester to take on Belle Vue on Friday (7.30).
