SWINDON Sprockets raced to a comfortable 56-34 win over Coventry in Thursday’s National League-level event at Blunsdon.

A decent turnout of supporters witnessed a meeting which flowed well and was headlined by a 15-point maximum by Sprockets’ No.1 Danny Ayres.

The Kent and Glasgow regular was in flawless form with five straight wins, and he was also involved in the race of the night when he got the better of visiting skipper Liam Carr in sensational Heat 6 which saw the two riders trade the lead throughout before Ayres finally made the decisive move off the final bend.

Darryl Ritchings skippered the Sprockets to their win with eight points, whilst another local man Lee Smart hit back from a first-ride fall to score paid ten.

The Storm were well served by Carr and Tom Bacon, whilst 15-year-old Henry Atkins carded an exciting win in Heat 8 when he kept lively home reserve Nathan Stoneman at bay.

Next Thursday’s (Sept 15) action at the Abbey Stadium features the Robins’ septet minus skipper Jason Doyle taking on a Select line-up featuring the likes of Chris Harris, Sam Masters and former Swindon men Aaron Summers and Kyle Howarth.
