SWINDON defeated a British League Select team by two points in Thursday’s challenge match at the Abbey Stadium.

The old saying in speedway when matches were run over 13 heats was “happiness is 40-38” and that was the scoreline the M&S Van Rental Robins achieved.

The Select led for much of the meeting but two 5-1s in the last two races gave the home side their victory.

An impressive Nick Morris was unbeaten from his four rides, whilst Rohan Tungate collected three wins and combined with Josh Grajczonek for a 5-1 over Chris Harris in the decider.

Kyle Newman did not take his final ride after being involved in awkward collision with Stefan Nielsen in Heat 11, but the Poole rider is thought to have avoided any serious injury.

Brady Kurtz then won the Bob Kilby Memorial Trophy, which was run as a second-half event, the Australian youngster getting the better of Morris, Tungate and Grajczonek in the Final.

SWINDON 40: Nick Morris 11+1, Josh Grajczonek 9+1, Rohan Tungate 9, Justin Sedgmen 5+1, Brady Kurtz 3, Charles Wright 3, Stefan Nielsen 0.
BRITISH LEAGUE SELECT 38: Sam Masters 9, Bradley Wilson-Dean 7+3, Aaron Summers 7+1, Chris Harris 6+1, Kyle Newman 6+1, Todd Kurtz 3+1, Kyle Howarth r/r.
