SUPER Swindon got their Premiership title defence off to a dream start as they stormed to a 52-38 win at Poole.
The CFS Filtration Robins took the lead in the opening race and never looked back with a composed display against a heavily fancied Pirates’ side.
It was a perfect night for the Abbey outfit to put a frustrating couple of weeks behind them on their return to the track - and Rossiter was full of praise for their efforts.
He said: “It’s a very good result, and I don’t think too many people saw that one coming!
“We hit them hard from the start, and although we had a spell where we got pegged back slightly we managed to kick-on again towards the end for all four points.
“It was a great effort from the team with a lot of good performances. It’s never easy to go down to Poole and win so we’re delighted to come away with that result.â€
Aussie duo Nick Morris and Troy Batchelor starred with double figures, but it was a powerful showing from the entire top five.
Tobiasz Musielak, David Bellego and Adam Ellis all notched paid nine points apiece as a change in riding order did the trick.
And despite Zach Wajtknecht and Mitchell Davey only contributing a handful of points at reserve, the Robins secured all four points.
POOLE 38: Peter Kildemand 14, Mateusz Szczepaniak 8+2, Kacper Woryna 6, Linus Sundstrom 5+1, Brady Kurtz 3+1, James Shanes 2+1, Josh Grajczonek 0.
SWINDON 52: Nick Morris 14, Troy Batchelor 12, Tobiasz Musielak 8+1, David Bellego 7+2, Adam Ellis 7+2, Zach Wajtknecht 3, Mitchell Davey 1.
