ROBINS SIGN YOUNG GUN SHANES

Tuesday December 11, 2018
SWINDON have snapped up young gun James Shanes as the latest member of their 2019 SGB Premiership side.

The 21-year-old brings top flight experience with Poole and is looking to fully establish himself at the top level.

He joins Jason Doyle, Troy Batchelor, Tobiasz Musielak, Adam Ellis and Dawid Lampart in Alun Rossiter’s line-up with Zach Wajtknecht also earmarked to put pen to paper when he returns from Australia.

Shanes is delighted to be handed another opportunity in the Premiership after losing his Poole place early in 2018.

And he insists he’s ready to make a big jump in his promising career at the Abbey.

“Swindon seems like a great club to be part of,” Shanes said. “They’ve got a lot of history, and it’s exciting to be going into a new era with the new stadium plans.

“I’m pleased to be part of it, and they’ve put together a cracking team so I’m excited to get started.

“It was obviously a dream come true for me being at Poole, but things didn’t work out in the end and that mishap is behind me now.

“I had a good year with Sheffield and Birmingham last year, and I feel ready to come back into the Premiership.

“I’ve got a better foundation to jump back into racing at that level now, and I think that will show when the season starts.”
