EVERYONE at Swindon speedway is saddened to hear of the passing of former mechanic and Robins machine examiner Bob Webb.

Father-in-law to former Robins rider David Smart, Bob was forced to stop attending speedway due to poor health a number of years ago following nearly 50 years of service with the club.

Bob’s association with the club dates back to the mid-1960’s where he first appeared as mechanic for the late Bob Kilby. Such was Bob’s technical knowhow, countless riders have called on him for his services down the years right up to and including our current number one Jason Doyle.

Not only was Bob the machine examiner at the Abbey for many years, but he was also asked to perform the same role at countless FIM and BSPA meetings up and down the country.

Affectionately known in the speedway world as Webby, Bob will be fondly remembered by all that knew him, and as a club we would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Bob’s wife Christine, daughter Suzanne and all the Webb family.
