SWINDON can put one foot in the Cup Final with a win over King’s Lynn at the Abbey on Thursday (7.30).
The CFS Filtration Robins are in the driving seat at the top of their group and are clear favourites to make the first ever Premiership Supporters’ Cup Final.
Co-promoter Lee Kilby says the feel-good factor sweeping through the club makes it a good place to be right now. “Crowds have been up and we’ve seen some great racing on our new track,†he said. “If we can reach the Supporters’ Cup Final it would be a great achievement by the boys.†Fans can vote for the riders they want in Heat 14 via the club twitter feed in a 10-minute window.
Kilby says it’s been good to have an interactive competition with supporters playing their part. “I like the idea and I will be championing it again for next season,†he said. “There are some tweaks which need to be made but overall I think the British Speedway Promoters’ Association should be congratulated for introducing this. “King’s Lynn are a good side but I’m sure Rosco (boss Alun Rossiter) will have the boys up for it.†Rossiter has booked GB star Craig Cook, currently without a Premiership club, to deputise for injured skipper Jason Doyle in the No.1 spot. Cook was all set to join Peterborough in the winter but the deal fell through on the eve of the season.
Lynn include young British sensation Robert Lambert, who has been handed a call-up into the opening Grand Prix of the season in Poland on Saturday week and also represents GB alongside Cook in Saturday’s Speedway of Nations at Belle Vue.
SWINDON: Craig Cook, Dawid Lampart, Troy Batchelor, Adam Ellis, Tobiasz Musielak, Zach Wajtknecht, James Shanes. KING’S LYNN: Robert Lambert, Lewis Kerr, Ty Proctor, Erik Riss, Thomas Jorgensen, Michael Palm Toft, Kasper Andersen.
