DOYLE PRAISE AS ROBINS PREPARE

Wednesday July 31, 2019
SWINDON skipper Jason Doyle has given the new-look Abbey Stadium circuit his seal of approval.

Ahead of a massive month of August for the CFS Filtration Robins, Doyle has praised the efforts of the track staff who have helped to maintain a racing strip which has produced some thrilling action this season.

After an early settling-in period there have been some memorable moments in 2019, including Doyle’s sensational match-winning effort in Heat 15 against Ipswich’s Krystian Pieszczek, and the from-the-back efforts of Danish star Rasmus Jensen who won a race against Belle Vue from the 15-metre handicap.

Last week’s thumping win over the Aces also saw good conditions despite record-breaking temperatures – a fact not lost on the Robins captain.

Doyle tweeted: “Credit where credit’s due! Swindon track staff done a great job yesterday in extreme heat to make the track not like a dust bowl!

“Dixie Dean and all the volunteers, thank you! We have another good race track in England!”

Robins now move on to a crucial phase of their season, starting with a home clash against top-four rivals Wolverhampton next Thursday (August 8).

With Poole and Ipswich seemingly clear at the top of the Premiership, the scrap is on for the remaining two play-off places, with little to choose between Belle Vue, King’s Lynn, the Robins and Wolves – and any away win for those sides against their direct rivals could alter the picture considerably.

Robins also travel to Belle Vue, Ipswich and Poole during a hectic eight-day period in mid-month, with the Witches and Peterborough visiting the Abbey over the August Bank Holiday period.

And the club are running a special offer for all three home matches across the month, which take place on August 8, 26 and 29 – with family tickets available for £30.

The family ticket includes two programmes, and admission for two adults and two children or one adult and three children – working out at £7 per adult.

Special family tickets for August home meetings are only available online at Swindon-speedway.com/tickets and can be bought right up to the start of racing on the day.

Club director Steve Park said: “I have often heard it said that speedway is a £10 sport and we must encourage more youngsters to come along and watch the sport.

“Well, our August offer of a family ticket for £30 answers both of those questions. Grab the kids or the grandchildren, or even the great grand-children and introduce youngsters to the sport and enjoy a cheap ticket in the process.”
