JASON Doyle and Troy Batchelor piled up the points in a narrow defeat for Swindon at Poole.

They gained a maximum in the last heat to peg the meeting back to two points and hand the CFS Filtration Robins a league point in the race for the play-offs.

Doyle notched four wins in his 15+1 and Batchelor carded 11+1 including three victories.

Boss Alun Rossiter pointed towards Heat 7 and 8 when Poole secured two successive maximums to open up a 28-20 lead.

“They were the races where we lost the meeting,” he said.

“But I’m pleased with the point. I feel we deserved it.

“We’ve got a run of home meetings to come now but I’m not taking anything for granted because visiting teams like our track now too.

“But we’ll stick together and after gaining six points on the road from three away meetings we are in a great position so I’d urge the fans to come along and support us starting on Thursday.”

Rossiter used Doyle as a tactical substitute in Heat 9 and he inspired a 4-2 after a tense battle with fellow Australian Josh Grajczonek.

But the outcome was decided in Heat 14 when, despite Kyle Newman’s brave effort, Poole decided a 3-3 to be 45-39 up.

Then came deadly duo Doyle and Batchelor again for a 5-1 to give the scoreline a close appearance.

The sides will meet again at the Abbey on Thursday (7.30).
