SWINDON racer Jordan Stewart is hoping nothing changes this winter and he can take his place at the Abbey next spring.

Stewart was lined up as a new arrival in Robins colours before the league season was wiped out by the pandemic.

Speculation is gathering pace about a potential team change lower down the order for Alun Rossiter’s side in 2021 – but Stewart is keeping his fingers crossed it won’t threaten his place at the reigning champions.

He said: “Racing in just one league one or two nights a week isn’t enough for me now and Swindon will be the perfect platform to push on.

“Alun Rossiter is a great team manager and being a former rider knows how to get the best from his riders.

“I’m working really hard back home trying to pay the bills and find the time to keep fit in the gym.

“This year has been a total write off for everyone and it’s hit a lot of people hard but hopefully we can get back to some sort of normality come Easter time and we can get the season started.

“I realise there are a lot of hurdles to get over before then but I’m gearing myself to start the season on time and hit the ground running.”

Rossiter is expected to make a move soon regarding a change of circumstances for a rider who may be ruled out for next season.

“We might have to do something and we’ll announce it to our fans as soon as everything is confirmed,” he said.

“It won’t be a massive disruption so it’s nothing too much to worry about.”
