SWINDON boss Alun Rossiter insists the future is bright for the Great Britain national team.

Rossiter, who left his role as GB boss in 2019, says the combination of Tai Woffinden and Robert Lambert is a match for anyone.

And with riders like former Robins favourite Adam Ellis and Belle Vue’s Dan Bewley coming through the ranks, Rossiter is excited by the prospects.

He said: “I loved my time as GB manager and nobody can ever take that away from me.

“Looking at what Olly Allen and Simon Stead have to work with now, they’re in a great position.

“Tai is a three-time World Champion with a burning desire to win it again and Robert is a European Champion with his first season as a fully fledged GP rider upon him.

“I believe Robert can make a big impression on the world stage, having worked with him I can see how determined the boy is.

“I’m not saying he’ll suddenly become World Champion but there’s no doubt in my mind within two or three years he can be knocking on the door.

“Britain has a talented pool of riders right now and I think it’s exciting for the sport. I take my hat off to Rob Painter and all the people involved in the GB team.”

Rossiter has also revealed how he was interested in bringing two new young riders to the Abbey this season before the club withdrew from the league.

“I was looking at a young British rider anyway as part of the Rising Star scheme and there was also an overseas rider I’d been talking to who would have been new to British Speedway which would have been refreshing.

“I won’t say anymore than that because I want to keep them as an option for the future.”
