NOTE: Under the league scoring system introduced for 2009, Swindon gained 4 points and Coventry received 0.

SWINDON emphatically registered their second victory at Coventry’s Brandon Stadium this season and in doing so extended their advantage at the top of the Sky Sports Elite League to five points.

Maximum points hauls from the powerful heat leader duo of Leigh Adams and Matej Zagar provided the backbone of Swindon’s success.

Indeed, Zagar scorched to a paid fifteen point haul and the Slovenian thrill merchant oozed speed, style and confidence throughout.

Leigh Adams notched an identical haul as Swindon limited Coventry to just six race winners and two heat advantages throughout.

For a second night in succession, the Robins operated rider replacement for Jurica Pavlic whilst club no.8 Richard Sweetman joined Paul Hurry in the reserve department.

Aside from the hefty contributions of Adams and Zagar, Simon Stead amassed a well deserved paid ten points haul whilst Travis McGowan acquired paid five.

A lively contribution from Paul Hurry saw the experienced British rider conjure paid nine and the reserve rider was in the thick of the action throughout.

Coventry’s scorecard was topped by a paid eleven point haul from Rory Schlein whilst Cardiff bound Edward Kennett scored paid ten.

However, Swindon were able to limit the effectiveness of the International duo of Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris, neither of whom registered double figures.

Swindon held the ascendancy for the majority of the encounter and had established a four point lead after heat eight.

Crucially, the Robins were able to nurture the advantage for a five race period in the mid to latter sector of the meeting.

A well timed heat thirteen 5-1 from Leigh Adams and Matej Zagar shuffled Swindon’s advantage to eight points. Coventry struck back in heat fourteen with a frantically acquired 5-1 from Rory Schlein and Ricky Wells which set up a tense finale to the encounter.

Requiring a 5-1 to gain all league points on offer, the Swindon pairing of Zagar and Adams romped to a fabulous one two finish.

It concluded a super night for the Robins’ faithful and continued Swindon’s positive momentum as the club eased past the midway point in the 2009 Elite league season.
