SWINDON have moved 5 points clear in the Sky Sports Elite League standings after registering a hard-fought 10-point victory at Belle Vue.
Alun Rossiter’s men made a slow start to the contest by conceding successive 5-1 race advantages in the opening two heats. However, the Robins regrouped and limited the home side to just two more advantages in the remaining thirteen races.
Swindon levelled the scores in heat nine, slipped behind in race ten, but finished the meeting strongly by scoring 21 points in the closing four races.
A paid 13-point haul from Swindon captain Leigh Adams headed the Robins’ score-chart. The Australian received solid support from a typically tenacious Ryan Fisher who notched paid 12, whilst Solovenian thrill merchant Matej Zagar scorched to four race wins en route to a 12-point tally.
The middle-order duo of Travis McGowan and Simon Stead displayed tenacity to notch a combined paid 18-point haul and their workmanlike contributions were integral to Swindon’s eventual success.
Krzysztof Kasprzak's 11 points topped the Belle Vue score-card and the Polish international was the only home teamster to card a double-figure haul. Charlie Gjedde contributed paid 8, whilst James Wright amassed paid 6 along with Ulrich Ostergaard.
