BATCH BUILDS UP TO NEW SEASON

Tuesday March 10, 2020
SWINDON racer Troy Batchelor insists he still has what it takes to beat the best riders in the world.

Batchelor was a vital member of last season’s double winning CFS Filtration Robins side and wants more of the same.

A former Grand Prix rider, he feels Swindon is his home in the UK – even thought he doesn’t live in the town!

“Yes, Swindon is my home track and one of my favourite tracks now,” he said.

“They did a great job reshaping it and we’re all looking forward to the new season now.

“It was a great achievement to win the double like we did and had a lot of laughs along the way too, hopefully we can do the same again this year and pick up the trophies.

“I enjoy riding for Swindon and I know I can beat the best riders in the world. I’ve rebuilt my career over the last couple of years and being at Swindon has helped me with that.

“I’ve stayed clear of injury and tried to rebuild the finances since coming out of the Grand Prix. If I was to be back in that I would only do it to be competitive and to win.

“We’re all looking forward to getting started, preparations are going nicely and I’m sure we can have another good season.”

Meanwhile Press and Practice takes place at the Abbey next Wednesday, March 18.

All seven riders alongside the management team will meet the media at 3pm before official photographs are taken on the centre green at around 4pm.

Track action will commence at 5pm with turnstiles open to supporters until practice draws to a conclusion at around 6.15pm.

The opening official fixture of the season takes place on Thursday March 26 (7.30) when King’s Lynn are the visitors to the Abbey as the CFS Filtration Robins begin their defence of the Premiership Supporters’ Cup.

Online tickets are available for the first three home meetings through the official club website now.
