SWINDON co-promoter Lee Kilby admits the delay to the start of the British Speedway season was ‘inevitable’.

The British Speedway Promoters’ Association and Speedway Control Bureau took the decision to suspend racing until April 15 at the earliest.

And Kilby says it’s what was expected and has backed the decision under the current crisis with the Coronavirus outbreak..

He said: "It’s very disappointing but ultimately delaying the start of the season is the correct call for all concerned.

“The wellbeing and health of everyone connected with our club and our sport is of the utmost importance and must be the priority at this time.

“We'll be monitoring the situation over the coming weeks and we'll be in touch with sponsors, season ticket holders and all fans in due course.”

Swindon Speedway would urge all patrons to follow the guidelines implemented by the government and wish everyone well at this difficult time.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone for the new season once we get the green light for the tapes to go up,” said Kilby.
