ROSCO IN RICO TRIBUTE

SWINDON BOSS Alun Rossiter has paid tribute to former favourite Lee Richardson – eight years to the day after his tragic passing.

Richardson died of internal injuries after a crash in Poland on May 13, 2012 and sent the sport into mourning.

He rode for Swindon for three seasons between 2005-07 and won the Elite League Pairs alongside club legend Leigh Adams in his first season with the club.

“That was a special occasion,” said Rossiter. “Both riders were brilliant that day and Lee played his part superbly. It was a brilliant moment when they won it.

“Lee was very professional in everything he did and today’s riders, some of them, could learn a thing or two from the way he took care of his equipment and sponsors.

“He was a delight to have at Swindon, I enjoyed working with him and the sport has missed him.

“When the time came for him to leave Swindon it was only because of the numbers game, the points limit ruled him out. At no time did we fall out or anything like that and we continued to enjoy a good relationship with him in the years after that.

“Everyone at Swindon Speedway is thinking of the Richardson family today. We will never forget him.”
