SWINDON STAR HANDED GP CHANCE

Tuesday August 04, 2020
SWINDON’S talented British racer Adam Ellis is potentially five rides away from next year’s Grand Prix series.

Ellis has been handed a place in the Grand Prix Challenge in Gorican, Croatia, on August 22 when three riders will book their place at the top table of the sport.

He’ll be up against former Robins riders Matej Zagar and Jurica Pavlic, plus established international stars Max Fricke, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Grigori Laguta and Vaclav Milik.

Said Ellis: “I’m looking forward to it, it’s been a pretty crazy year and I’m happy to get the chance to race in the challenge.

“I’ve got quite a few meetings coming up before then in Poland and Sweden so I’ve got time to get some form going.

“It will be good to see where I stand after putting in the work in the off season.”

A delighted CFS Filtration Robins co-promoter Lee Kilby added: “We’re enjoying seeing the guys racing in Poland right now and this is great news for Adam.

“Obviously we wish we could be cheering him on at the Abbey but we’ll have to wait until next year. This is a real feather in Adam’s cap to be recognised with a call-up like this.”

Great Britain already have a confirmed starter in next year’s series after Robert Lambert’s stunning win in the European Championship – and triple World Champion Tai Woffinden is expected to follow.

This year’s series, featuring Robins skipper Jason Doyle, starts later this month in Wroclaw and will be staged over four weekends with two meetings each time.

And the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations, with Doyle expected to be one of the Australian pairing, will go ahead at Belle Vue in October.
