SWINDON star Adam Ellis is preparing for the biggest meeting of his career this weekend.

Ellis, a vital part of the club’s league and cup winning team last season, takes his place in the Grand Prix Challenge in Croatia this Saturday with three places up for grabs in the 2021 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series.

He’s been nominated as Great Britain’s only representative and is looking to join King’s Lynn’s Robert Lambert in next year’s series after Lambert qualified by becoming European Champion.

Ellis said: “I’m looking forward to it. The season has been going really good so far and I’ve been feeling comfortable on the bikes so we’ll see what happens on Saturday.

“I will go there and try my best to get a good result. The top three would be a dream come true but it’s a tough line-up for sure.”

Gorican is the home track of former Swindon favourite Jurica Pavlic who has been called up as a wildcard for the meeting.

Matej Zagar, another former Robin, won the meeting last season and is once again included.

The 2020 Grand Prix series, including Swindon skipper Jason Doyle, is now just a week away with the first two rounds in Wroclaw, Poland, on Friday and Saturday August 28 and 29.

LINE-UP: Grigory Laguta, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Matej Zagar, Mikkel Michelsen, Jurica Pavlic, Nico Covatti, Oliver Berntzon, Broc Nicol, Adam Ellis, Kevin Woelbert, Timo Lahti, Vaclav Milik, Max Fricke, Jevgenij Kostigovs, Dimitri Bergé, Aleksandr Loktaev.
