TALENTED Swindon teenager Anders Rowe heads to Berwick tonight for the British Under-21 Final – and he’s paid tribute to the man who made his career possible.

Dad Del has been a familiar face at the Abbey for many years working in the pits for Robins riders and handed Anders the opportunity to carve out his own career.

Rowe was lined up to ride for the reigning Premiership champions this year and hopes to remain in the plans for 2021.

He went over to Poland to gain some valuable experience in league racing over there and returns to the UK a better rider.

“I owe a lot to my Dad for everything he does to help me,” said Rowe. “Not only does he mechanic for me – he gives up days at work and drives me all over the country to support my racing.

“As I’ve said before, I’ve always wanted to ride for Swindon ever since my Dad started as a mechanic there. I signed as a full club asset a few years ago now. At the time, I said I wanted to be in the one-to-seven and here I am now.

“I want to remain in the plans for next year and I know it’s going to be hard with me being so young but it’s going to be great to line up alongside the likes of Doyley and Batch – I’ll learn so much from them.”

The meeting, which will be live streamed via Berwick’s youtube channel ‘Bandits TV’ as it will be raced behind closed doors.

Great Britain international Dan Bewley, who raced in the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations at the weekend, is the clear favourite to take the title and Berwick favourite Leon Flint is also strongly fancied.

1 Alex Spooner, 2 Joe Thompson, 3 Tom Spencer, 4 Anders Rowe, 5 Jason Edwards, 6 Dan Bewley, 7 Joe Lawlor, 8 Jack Thomas, 9 Drew Kemp, 10 Jordan Palin, 11 Jamie Halder, 12 Dan Thompson, 13 Kyle Bickley, 14 Tom Brennan, 15 Leon Flint, 16 Dan Gilkes.
